Senior Capstone Project: Women In Classical Music

“She Plays like a Man” aims to be an exploration and celebration of the often unsung accomplishments of women throughout music history. During my time as a music student in college, I have been frustrated by the ways women have been excluded from the narrative when looking at the history of classical music. This project aims to educate about those women. The project was coded from scratch using HTML/CSS and Javascript by me over the course of the last semester of my senior year.

For best results, please view this site on a laptop or desktop computer, and have your sound on. The piece is a multimedia exploration of women in Western music history, and automatically plays music.
